Communicating a new gaming narrative

Challenge

How do you communicate a completely new style of gameplay in which a player's behavior dictates the storyline as well as the action?

SCEE felt that a game would be the perfect platform for this messaging and tasked Kerb with developing it.

What We Did

Set in a broken vision of the future, Infamous Precinct Assault takes a slice of the boxed product’s action and transforms it into a side-view platform game. The leading narrative is presented to players up front with a simple question, asking if they wanted to play as a Good or Evil character.

Guiding the game’s hero Cole, players enjoy storming through three levels of action using a range of superpowers and weapons within environments which all feature in the full boxed game.

How well the player achieves their Good/Evil ambitions depends on how they perform, with a dual Good/Evil highscore table reflecting their results.

What Happened

The game was quickly seeded onto all major global games portals and within days had reached 1 million players 50% from the target markets.

We worked with San Francisco Games PR agency Triplepoint to promote the game which generated over 100 articles on key gaming blogs and sites including a piece in Edge Magazine.

The sales of the boxed game were very strong at over 1.2 million copies bought worldwide.
