Channel 4
Challenge
Channel 4 were expanding their E4 brand to include casual gaming.
As a unequivocal statement of intent they commissioned a branded E4 game which had two main objectives. Firstly: to sit on third party sites raising awareness and delivering traffic to the E4 games site. Secondly: to sit on the E4 site as a piece of unique, best-of-breed, casual game content.
What We Did
Using the E4 dwarf riot police from the TV stings, we created a unique balancing game that resembled Jenga in reverse, with the police inside the blocks trying to kick their way out.
We used a green screen video shoot to film the little people who starred as characters in the game.
All this was built using a 2D physics engine to produce the realistic gravity effects. The game was then seeded to games portals by Hyperseed.
What Happened
The finished result perfectly captures the irreverent dark humour of E4 and a very playable flash game.
The external version of the game was played by 3.8 million uniques and had a click through rate of 14%.
